Favourite Foundation

Its no secret that I am fairly new to the makeup world, foundation is by far my hardest challenge.  I am terrible at color matching and I always look cakey, I just have not figured out the secret to a flawless foundation application.

My favorite all time foundation is the It Cosmetics CC+ foundation.  It is so amazing.  It gives me the coverage I need with a built in spf, which is a total bonus.  I just cant get enough of it.

I am in the color light, and its a perfect color match, I always have the staff color match me, as I am terrible about it!

Metamorphosis: Be the Change

I picked up the Metamorphosis quad a couple of weeks ago and I am madly in love with it.  This has seriously become my favorite all time pallet.  Dani from Coffee Break with Dani, who is such an inspiration.  If you don’t follow Coffee Break with Dani click on the red letters and do so!

She is a mom of two, Hispanic and is completely relatable.  I look forward to her videos.  A couple of weeks ago she posted that she has another collaboration with Colour Pop Cosmetics.  This times its an eyeshadow quad.  She goes on to explain…why don’t I just insert the video.

So there you have it.  Her photos are way better than mine! So anyway.  I love this.  She has also come up with many different looks for this pallet.  The beautiful thing about this is that you don’t just have to use it with the colors in the quad.

There are two neutral shades in the Pallet.  They are as follows.

DSCN1872 DSCN1873

There are also two transformer shades, which are:

DSCN1874 DSCN1875

DSCN1870 DSCN1878

Can you not die?  These are amazing.  The best part is that you can put these two shades over any color and they are completely different every time.  I love them.  I will be purchasing a back up of this, I will probably use them that much!

If you have purchased this, let me know what your thought are on them.

I Do Vox Box

When I got home last Monday, I came home to a package in my mailbox.  I was a little confused because I didn’t get an email or anything about receiving a ox box, but that’s okay.  So I received the I Do Vox Box.  In it contained 6 new products to test out and review.  I do need to disclose to you that I received these products complementary for testing purposes from Influenster.  So in other words, I got these for free as beta tester and I am now reviewing them for you!

Skinny Girl Tasty Nutrition Bars $4.99 Each

This wasn’t so bad, I wasn’t a fan of the flavor and I don’t really know that I would purchase this.  There are better protein bars out there.  I like some of the other things from this brand, just not this item.

URGENTRx Ache & Pain Relief $1.39

I actually haven’t used this yet.  It is in my purse as an in case of emergency situation.  I need to look at the ingredients before I decide to actually use it.

Sahale Snacks Grab & Go $27.46 for 18 pouches

These little gems here were a total surprise.  I got the flavor Cashews with pomegranate and vanilla, and OMG!  I have to admit I was really hesitant to try them but I am so glad I did.  I will have to look into the other flavors because they were amazing!

Indeed Labs nanoblur $19.99

DSCN1813

This is an interesting product.  I am not actually sure what it is supposed to do, I guess its meant to blur fine lines and wrinkles and pores.  I don’t really have those issues as of yet, but I am trying it out.  I like the consistency of it, it feels really good on the skin, and I don’t break out from it, so that’s a plus.

Cover Girl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation $11.30

DSCN1805

This foundation is beautiful.  I don’t really go for the luminous formulas, I guess I have always gone for a natural finish in the foundations that I purchase.  So this is a first for me and I really like it.  I am in the shade 825, and it was really surprising that I actually got a matching shade,, I don’t usually get that in boxes like this.  It is medium to full coverage, and is buildable to a point.  I really like this one.  I don’t really get too shiny, it just gives you a healthy glow.  I love it.

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstick 910 $9.80

DSCN1803

This isn’t a color that I would normally pick out for myself, but it is really pretty all the same.  It has a glossy finish and is really moisturizing.  I really have to sheer it out when I wear it, I am a gloss kind of girl, just a wash of color and I am good to go.  The color payoff is amazing.

Neutrogena Hand Cream $3.99

DSCN1812

Not sure how I feel about this lotion.  It has a silicone feel, and I don’t really feel like it moisturizes.  I will continue to use it, and report back.  Its just a really strange formula.  It doesn’t have a scent, which is good, since typically lotions that are scented are sometime over powering.

ILNP Haul and First Impressions

Hey all I am here with another ILNP Haul.  Seriously.  I have a problem with these polishes.  I am seriously addicted!  The people that created these have a direct line to my heart.  These polishes are just amazing.  I absolutely love them!

I recently picked up four new ones, all from the summer collections.  And I am in the process of placing another order.

Closure

The first of the latest colors that I have picked up is Closure.  This is a beautiful strawberry red holographic polish.  The formula is perfect.  Smooth and easy to work with.  This is a thicker formula than I usually get from their polishes, but it is so easy to work with.  Two coats and it is completely opaque.  You will need a topcoat, it dries a little dull, but worth it.  Amazing and unique color.  The only other red holographic I own is more of a dark brick red.  This is perfect for the summer!

DSCN1796This next one is Super Juiced.  Extremely unique to my collection This is a purple crelly polish with a pink duo-chrome shimmer running through it.  Opaque in two to three coats.  You will need a top coat as it dries almost matte, like a neon polish.  This formula is a tad on the thin side, it wants to run into my cuticles when I have too much on the brush.  Beautiful polish.   A must have!

Honor Roll

Next is Honor Roll.  This is a gorgeous inky blue holographic polish.  Opaque in two easy coats with a fabulous formula.  I have one other polish that is like this and that is from FUN Lacquer.  A great polish for that statement nail look in the summer.

Walking HomeLast but not least is Walking Home.  If you own Color Club’s Eternal Beauty, you don’t need this one.  I do have to say that I like this one more than Color Clubs, the purple is more vibrant in Walking Home.  Two coats and its completely opaque.  You will need a top coat for this one and Honor Roll as it dries a little dull.  The holo in these polishes is just amazing.  These photos were taken inside and no flash, this is just the lighting that I have available in my room.

I am as always, extremely impressed with ILNP, I preordered these on June 12 and got them in the mail on the 29th.  These have been restocked as of July 3rd, so get them while they are still available.  They are incredible reasonable on their prices.  And the shipping is really fast.  I am in love with this brand of polish.  If I had to get rid of all of my polishes and only keep one brand, this would be the one.

If you have purchased any polishes from the ILNP brand let me know which ones you got and what your thoughts are on them.

Swim into Beauty

Sorry I am so late on this.  Here lately I get home and all I want to do is sleep, I am so tired all the time.  But camp keeps me busy.

Today I have for you the June Ipsy Glam bag.  This month is all about summer beauty and swimming!  YAY!  Below is what I received in my bag.

J.Cat Beauty Lipitude Hydrating Lip Stain  – Full Size at $5.99

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer- Sample Size $9.00

Lavanilla Laboratories The healthy body butter in Pure Vanilla- Sample Size

Aurora Intensive Eyeliner Pen in the color Blackberry- Full Size$7.99

tre’STiQue Mini Shadow Crayon in the color Kona Coffee- Full Size $10.66

Overall I was extremely pleased with my bag this month.  I am getting a lot of use out of all of these products.  I am loving the primer from smashbox, I am obsessed with the eyeliner, and the body butter.   I could do without the lip stain, its just not my color, and the shadow crayon is a great base.

Say Yes

So I recently picked up a birchbox box to see what all of the hype is about.  Tati, from GlamLifeGuru had this deal with the company that you could get a box for $1.  Yep that’s right, $1.  So I scooped up the deal right away.

I am kind of up in the air about it to be honest with you.  This is what I received in my June Birch box:

Catherine Malandrino Style De Paris parfume

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner

Number 4 Super Comb Prep and Protect

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology

Bonus Item: L Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder

I am sorry that I don’t have any photos for this post, I ran out of time to get them all taken and uploaded.

I really like the BB Cream and the Eyeliner.  I love to the Comb prep and protect.  And I absolutely love the pony holder.

I will give this another shot to see whether I really want to keep getting this box or not.  If I do, I am considering doing an Ipsy VS Birchbox, what are your thoughts, or do you want them to remain separate?

Coming out

This isn’t what I had planned to share with you but after watching this I fell the need to share this with you.

Ingrid Nilsen is one of the most inspiring people to me.  We all know that I am a youtube junkie.  I look forward to each and everyone of her videos.  She is the most beautiful, inspiring and most well put together person I know.  She has been in inspiration for many of the things that I have accomplished in my life this far.

Yesterday she posted this video.

I had no idea what it was about.  I saw that she had posted a video and I clicked on it to watch.  Before I get into this, I must tell you that most of my friends are gay, in one way or another.  No gay happy, but Gay LGBT.  Being around people that are gay does not bother me on bit.

I had no idea, until her video.  I am so happy for her that she is finally out.  I could see the stress she has been under build up over the past several years and when she finally just said it yesterday, I could see the stress falling off.  It is never easy to tell people something that intimate about you.  I went through something similar.  We all go through phases.  I dated a girl in high school and we kept it from just about everyone, parents included, except for our closest friends.  We did that because we weren’t sure if it was a phase or if we really were gay.  It turned out to be a phase for me, her, not so much.  And she is now happily married to her partner.  But when my mother found out and questioned me about it, I was terrified.  My parents are a bit on the older side, so I was harder for them to except my experimentation.

I completely understand why she battled with it.  People are mean, its just their nature.  If something is out of the norm, its hard for people to accept.

Ingrid, if you are reading this, which if you are, please leave me a comment, I would love to get in touch with you.  I am so happy for you, and I don’t want to you to get discouraged.  People are in shock and are in a society where homosexuality is new and a growing trend.  Just remember that there are people out there that truly support you.  I am one of them.  Your journey is just beginning, and it will not be an easy one, but just remember that you did not choose this path, it chose you.  You are such a positive person and a role model.  We are the same age, in two different parts of the country, but I will always be there for you supporting you.  Stay positive.  You go Girl!

Balayage

So I have been doing a lot of thinking.  I really needed a change.   So I did my homework and decided that Balayage was the best choice for me.  My hair had completly grown out the color and I was left with my natural hair color which has gotten really dark over the past year.  It was flat and needed life.  So after an extensive amount of research I decided to go with balayage.

I wanted something that was easy to manage and something that I didn’t have to get touched up every 6 weeks.  Balayage is fairly new to the hair world and to me.  Balayage is french for sweeping.  Basically the hair stylist sweeps color onto your hair to create a natural sun kissed look.  Google has it defined as: “a technique for highlighting the hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect.”

So after much deliberation and saving of the moola I decided that this was the best option and did my homework on which place I wanted to go.  I wanted to go to my cousin’s salon, but she didn’t have anyone that knew what I was talking about or how to do it.  So I did more research.  I came across The Mane Attraction in Collinsville, Il.  I called them up and made an appointment.  Laurie Anderson was my stylist she talked to me about what I was looking for and we were both on the same page.  She suggested balayage, I agree and we went to work.  So she painted my hair with her stuff and created a natural look or ombre to my hair.  The whole thing only took about an hour and a half, but what a difference it made.  I went from my flat natural boring hair color to this amazing difference.

Laurie did such an amazing job.  I absolutely love what she has done for me.  I have recommended her to all of my friends and family.  It has been about two weeks since I got it done.  I seriously cannot stop looking at it every chance I get.  I love it so.  It added light and texture to my hair making it look not so dull and lifeless.  I love it.

Laurie if you are reading this, thank you, thank you, thank you!  You have completely changed my look.  People have noticed that something is different, but they can’t figure out what it is.

I couldn’t find a current before picture but below is the results from Laurie’s work.  If you are ever in the area and are looking to change things up with your hair, check out The Mane Attraction and Laurie!  You won’t regret it!

Hey everyone!  Sorry I am a day late, yesterday was insane and I didn’t get to opportunity to sit down and write this all out for you all.  So without further ado, here is my May Ipsy Glambag.  This month’s theme is Jetsetter.

First up is the Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil.  That’s a mouth full!  I am really happy with this product.  It is exactly what I needed!  It isn’t greasy or anything and it really makes your lip color last and prevents feathering.  I got this in a sample but mostly full size.  It retails for $16.  The value of the one I received was $ 12.80

When I got the pencil it also came with two sample lip glosses.  I got the colors failbait and bittersweet.  Gorgeous colors.  I may have to purchase failbait.

Next I received the Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil in the color Tantalizing Taupe.  The formula is great on this product.  I am just starting to get into brow products so this is a great first step.  I got a full size which retails for $18.00

I also received these eye patches from Klorane.  They are the smoothing and relaxing eye patches.  I have always wanted to try these out so I am stoked that I finally got some in my bag!  Full price is at 7 sets of 2 patches for $21.  The value of my sample is $6.00

With summer right around the corner, this next product will surely come in handy.  CoTZ Tinted sun screen.  This retails for $19.99 for a 42.5g tube.  My sample is .35 g making my sample worth $.50

Last but not least probably my favorite product out of this months bag is another brush.  I really liked the last one that I received from this brand so I was ecstatic to see that I was getting another!  This is the Tapered Blending Brush #205.  It is really soft and easy to use.  I really really like this brush.  This is full size and retails for $12.00

This month’s bag was really good.  I am really excited about most of the products in it.  the total value of this months bag is: $49.30
