extended absence

Hey all you wonderful readers.  I am so sorry for my absence my life has been absolutely insane.

Summer camp was a huge success.  And I immediately fell back into school and my love life.  I have so many new posts planned and I am trying to carve out the time to get them written and posted.

Thank you for being so patient with me!

Favourite Foundation

Its no secret that I am fairly new to the makeup world, foundation is by far my hardest challenge.  I am terrible at color matching and I always look cakey, I just have not figured out the secret to a flawless foundation application.

My favorite all time foundation is the It Cosmetics CC+ foundation.  It is so amazing.  It gives me the coverage I need with a built in spf, which is a total bonus.  I just cant get enough of it.

I am in the color light, and its a perfect color match, I always have the staff color match me, as I am terrible about it!

Favorites Challenge

I have fourteen days to share with your my beauty favorites.  Each day I will share with you a new product that is my ride or die, holy grail beauty products. Below I have added a photo of the items to look forward to.  Keep on the lookout for these posts!  Let me know what other challenges you would like me to do!

Metamorphosis: Be the Change

I picked up the Metamorphosis quad a couple of weeks ago and I am madly in love with it.  This has seriously become my favorite all time pallet.  Dani from Coffee Break with Dani, who is such an inspiration.  If you don’t follow Coffee Break with Dani click on the red letters and do so!

She is a mom of two, Hispanic and is completely relatable.  I look forward to her videos.  A couple of weeks ago she posted that she has another collaboration with Colour Pop Cosmetics.  This times its an eyeshadow quad.  She goes on to explain…why don’t I just insert the video.

So there you have it.  Her photos are way better than mine! So anyway.  I love this.  She has also come up with many different looks for this pallet.  The beautiful thing about this is that you don’t just have to use it with the colors in the quad.

There are two neutral shades in the Pallet.  They are as follows.

There are also two transformer shades, which are:

DSCN1870 DSCN1878

Can you not die?  These are amazing.  The best part is that you can put these two shades over any color and they are completely different every time.  I love them.  I will be purchasing a back up of this, I will probably use them that much!

If you have purchased this, let me know what your thought are on them.

I Do Vox Box

When I got home last Monday, I came home to a package in my mailbox.  I was a little confused because I didn’t get an email or anything about receiving a ox box, but that’s okay.  So I received the I Do Vox Box.  In it contained 6 new products to test out and review.  I do need to disclose to you that I received these products complementary for testing purposes from Influenster.  So in other words, I got these for free as beta tester and I am now reviewing them for you!

Skinny Girl Tasty Nutrition Bars $4.99 Each

This wasn’t so bad, I wasn’t a fan of the flavor and I don’t really know that I would purchase this.  There are better protein bars out there.  I like some of the other things from this brand, just not this item.

URGENTRx Ache & Pain Relief $1.39

I actually haven’t used this yet.  It is in my purse as an in case of emergency situation.  I need to look at the ingredients before I decide to actually use it.

Sahale Snacks Grab & Go $27.46 for 18 pouches

These little gems here were a total surprise.  I got the flavor Cashews with pomegranate and vanilla, and OMG!  I have to admit I was really hesitant to try them but I am so glad I did.  I will have to look into the other flavors because they were amazing!

Indeed Labs nanoblur $19.99

DSCN1813

This is an interesting product.  I am not actually sure what it is supposed to do, I guess its meant to blur fine lines and wrinkles and pores.  I don’t really have those issues as of yet, but I am trying it out.  I like the consistency of it, it feels really good on the skin, and I don’t break out from it, so that’s a plus.

Cover Girl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation $11.30

DSCN1805

This foundation is beautiful.  I don’t really go for the luminous formulas, I guess I have always gone for a natural finish in the foundations that I purchase.  So this is a first for me and I really like it.  I am in the shade 825, and it was really surprising that I actually got a matching shade,, I don’t usually get that in boxes like this.  It is medium to full coverage, and is buildable to a point.  I really like this one.  I don’t really get too shiny, it just gives you a healthy glow.  I love it.

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstick 910 $9.80

DSCN1803

This isn’t a color that I would normally pick out for myself, but it is really pretty all the same.  It has a glossy finish and is really moisturizing.  I really have to sheer it out when I wear it, I am a gloss kind of girl, just a wash of color and I am good to go.  The color payoff is amazing.

Neutrogena Hand Cream $3.99

DSCN1812

Not sure how I feel about this lotion.  It has a silicone feel, and I don’t really feel like it moisturizes.  I will continue to use it, and report back.  Its just a really strange formula.  It doesn’t have a scent, which is good, since typically lotions that are scented are sometime over powering.

ILNP Haul and First Impressions

Hey all I am here with another ILNP Haul.  Seriously.  I have a problem with these polishes.  I am seriously addicted!  The people that created these have a direct line to my heart.  These polishes are just amazing.  I absolutely love them!

I recently picked up four new ones, all from the summer collections.  And I am in the process of placing another order.

Closure

The first of the latest colors that I have picked up is Closure.  This is a beautiful strawberry red holographic polish.  The formula is perfect.  Smooth and easy to work with.  This is a thicker formula than I usually get from their polishes, but it is so easy to work with.  Two coats and it is completely opaque.  You will need a topcoat, it dries a little dull, but worth it.  Amazing and unique color.  The only other red holographic I own is more of a dark brick red.  This is perfect for the summer!

DSCN1796This next one is Super Juiced.  Extremely unique to my collection This is a purple crelly polish with a pink duo-chrome shimmer running through it.  Opaque in two to three coats.  You will need a top coat as it dries almost matte, like a neon polish.  This formula is a tad on the thin side, it wants to run into my cuticles when I have too much on the brush.  Beautiful polish.   A must have!

Honor Roll

Next is Honor Roll.  This is a gorgeous inky blue holographic polish.  Opaque in two easy coats with a fabulous formula.  I have one other polish that is like this and that is from FUN Lacquer.  A great polish for that statement nail look in the summer.

Walking HomeLast but not least is Walking Home.  If you own Color Club’s Eternal Beauty, you don’t need this one.  I do have to say that I like this one more than Color Clubs, the purple is more vibrant in Walking Home.  Two coats and its completely opaque.  You will need a top coat for this one and Honor Roll as it dries a little dull.  The holo in these polishes is just amazing.  These photos were taken inside and no flash, this is just the lighting that I have available in my room.

I am as always, extremely impressed with ILNP, I preordered these on June 12 and got them in the mail on the 29th.  These have been restocked as of July 3rd, so get them while they are still available.  They are incredible reasonable on their prices.  And the shipping is really fast.  I am in love with this brand of polish.  If I had to get rid of all of my polishes and only keep one brand, this would be the one.

If you have purchased any polishes from the ILNP brand let me know which ones you got and what your thoughts are on them.

It’s been a while

I am so sorry for not posting for a while.  Work has been a little insane over the last several weeks.  Let me clue you in a bit.

When I started planning for camp, my goal was to have 50 children enrolled, as of Monday, I have 84 enrolled.  We have outgrown our space at the YMCA, so we have rented a building within walking distance for our base for the camp to use.  It has been an uphill battle, with the building let me tell you , hopefully, we will have it all taken care of soon.  The weather has not been forgiving at all here lately.  This has seriously been the wettest summer I have ever seen, in fact my supervisor told me the other day that she felt like we were living in Seattle.

The kids are having so much fun.  I couldn’t be happier with the way things are working out.  We have also merged with my other YMCA, so that is great news.

I have been a little careless with my spending here as of lately, but that is because there are so many new things that I want to buy and test and review for your all.  I have several things that I am testing as of right now, so look forward to that.  I will try to get back at writing.

I am really trying to get into a schedule, I am trying my best.  I have just been so tired when I come home from work, no matter what time of day I get off.

My life is turning around, and I am excited about that!  More to come on that!  I want to see how things unfold before I tell the world.

So this is my update for now, I will see you all next week…

Spirit Sticks and Sunburns

Today was just awesome!  Today my campers went to the Annual Association Field Day at one of our branches.

This was our second field trip, and overall things turned out pretty great.  The Association Field Day is where all of the Camps that are apart of our association gather together in one location to be together, be loud and proud and to play games together.  Today there were five of our branches in attendance.  We had a total of about 40 kids today.  We were small, but we were mighty.

I was kind of concerned about the weather, and another canceled trip, but they decided to go ahead.  When we got to our destination, we were a little lost, none of us had been to one of these before.  They started this several years, after I stopped working as a counselor at my other YMCA.  I met up with another camp director, and she was trying to get some answers as to where we should go.  After getting some answers, I took my kids to the port a potties for a bathroom break and to the gym to await the other camps to show up to start.  The weather wasn’t very cooperative at first, it wasn’t raining, it was misting, but it was enough to drive us inside.

We finally got things started and completed our opening ceremony and were off for lunch before games.  We were asked to plan a water game and a dry game to teach to the other camps as they rotated between stations, but that didn’t work out.  They decided that we weren’t going to do the water games, and that we would just fall in line with another camp and follow them.  There didn’t end up being a rotation, but we made do.

We played many a game with our campers and some of the other camps decided to join in our fun.  We played Bob the Weasel and it was so catchy that as I was doing my rounds between my groups I saw that other groups were playing as well.  We sang several camp songs and yelled numerous chants.  By 1:00 the sun was starting to peak through and the humidity began to rise and my campers got really tired and restless so I decided that we were going to play the games that I had planned to teach, which were some of our favorite games.  We started out with the leaky cup challenge.

You split your group up into two teams.  You need two cups with holes in them and four buckets, two filled with water. Your teams use the cups and fill them with water race to the other end of the boundary and put the remainder of the water in the empty bucket.  The team that fills the bucket up first wins, or in our case gets to dump the bucket of water on a counselor.  Our kids had so much fun that other camps wanted to join in.

We finished up around 2 and started heading to the bathrooms for our final bathroom break before hitting the bus and to hydrate after running around like crazy.  We took a giant all association picture.  And then we were told that we had to stay for closing ceremony.  So we gathered our campers up in the field behind the YMCA that we were at and waited.  They were getting restless again so we sang some more songs and yelled some more chants until the event coordinator came out to close out the day.  He took his spirit stick and played a chanting game with each branch, the higher the stick was in the air the louder we were to get, the lower to the ground the quieter we needed to be.  He thanked everyone for their participation and tallied up all of the points.  Then he said that there was one branch that showed great sportsmanship, were really excited and pumped up, good listeners, well-behaved and embodied the Four Core Values of the YMCA.  Can you guess who?  Before I tell you who, I want to explain what this all means.

Each year the Spirit Stick is awarded to Y Camp that meets the criteria listed above.  Since starting this, one branch almost always wins.  When you are awarded the Spirit Stick, you get to take it with you for the rest of summer, and bring it back next season for the next Association Field Day.  You also get to make your mark on it, and receive bragging rights among the association.

So if you guess my camp, your right!  Not only was it our first time attending the Field Day but it is also our first outing after becoming apart of the association!  I am so proud of my campers.  They were so excited.  None of them thought that they would get it.  So this weekend, I will be purchasing a Kelly green spoon of ribbon and a white or silver paint marker and making our mark on the Spirit Stick.  By the end of the day myself and some of the other counselors had a little bit of a sunburn on our faces, but when most of the day if over cast you don’t really think about using sun screen….o well…

field day 2

I am so proud of my campers.  They behaved very well today, the listened every time.  They were amazing.  Today was an amazing day!
